A Little About Myself
Trish Belleghem, RVT
As a small child I knew I wanted to spend my life caring for animals. My dreams were fulfilled when I graduated from Seneca College and became a Registered Veterinary Technician in 1997. After over 20 happy years in a clinic setting, I decided I wanted to find a way to merge my continued interest in animal behaviour and training with a desire live a fuller, more active lifestyle. In 2016 I took the leap and founded Trish's Professional Pet Care Services. My small business continues to grow and succeed with the help of many wonderful clients and pets.
Trish is one of a kind! She is friendly, approachable and very professional. Her energy and passion for animals makes having her come to our house such a treat. Our dog loves her and I will continue using her services because it is time and money well spent.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you have Pet first aid experience?
I am a registered Veterinary technician, having graduated from Seneca College and passed the VTNE in 1997. I am a member in good standing with the Ontario Association of Veterinary Technicians. I complete continuing education courses every year to keep my technical and first aid skills up to date
I am qualified to teach pet first aid to professionals and pet owners via WALKS n' WAGS PET FIRST AID
I am also a licensed business with Insurance coverage that extends to your home and pets for your peace of mind.
How many dogs can you walk at once?
Group walks have a maximum of 6 dogs. Dogs must be up to date on vaccines , demonstrate good social skills and have good recall skills. Owners are reminded that we usually walk in dirt, mud, long grass and woods. Dogs can be at risk of encounters with wildlife and parasites such as ticks. Dogs come home tired, happy and full of adventurous tales.
Dogs are transported in a climate controlled vehicle, in crates that are cleaned and disinfected between each dog.
How do you manage group walks?
I have an extensive background in animal behaviour, from both school and continuing education, as well as hand on experience. I have attended numerous workshops and courses in dog behaviour from Karen Pryor, Ian Dunbar, Julie Shaw, and Jean Donaldson to name a few. I have extensive clicker training and positive reinforcement knowledge. In past years I have instructed puppy socialization, agility, and obedience courses. I have also competed in obedience, rally, agility, and sheep herding with my own dogs.
While I do not offer dog training as a service, I do ensure that I create a positive bond with all the dogs I walk. On group and individual walks we begin on leash or long lines and practice numerous recalls every walk. The dogs know If I call them to me, they will be rewarded with a cookie, a pet, a toy or enthusiastic praise.
What type of animals do you have experience with?
Although the majority of my clients are dogs and cats, I frequently care for birds, reptiles and amphibians, rabbits and chickens!
Over the years I have owned guinea pigs, a senegal parrot, numerous budgies, a gecko, fish, a horse, as well as dogs and cats.
